On Thursday (May 15, 2025), Qantas announced the launch of new direct service between Adelaide and Auckland from October 31, 2025, marking the airline’s return of nonstop international flying from South Australia.  The route will operate four times weekly with a Boeing 737-800, providing more choices for Southern Australians across Qantas’ expanding international network, including seamless connectivity to North America via New Zealand on the airline’s popular QF3 service from Auckland to New York. Additionally, Qantas is opening a new Domestic Business Lounge in Adelaide.

In Thursday’s announcement, Qantas Group’s CEO – International, Cam Wallace, said,

“Today we’re celebrating two huge milestones in Adelaide – launching a new direct international flight and our first Qantas Business Lounge at Adelaide Airport.  This is fantastic news for our South Australian customers who will have access to a direct international flight to Auckland as well as opening up connections to New York via Auckland.

“For the millions of customers that visit our lounges, we know just how important it is to have a premium pre-flight experience and we’re so pleased to be bringing this to Adelaide today.  The new lounge has been designed based off feedback and the features we know our customers’ value the most.”

Also commenting on the new Adelaide-Auckland route and Business Lounge, Adelaide Airport’s Managing Director, Brenton Cox, said,

“We’re excited to welcome Qantas international services back to Adelaide, offering both a direct service to Auckland and opening up an excellent one-stop connection with New York.  We also welcome the wonderful new Business Lounge featuring great local produce in keeping with Adelaide Airport’s overall retail philosophy to showcase the best of South Australia.”

Qantas’ new Domestic Business Lounge in Adelaide celebrates the best of South Australia, and features the Market Kitchen, inspired by the Adelaide Central market, which serves up dishes by the airline’s Creative Director of Food, Beverage and Service, Neil Perry, and lighter snack options by Maggie Beer.  Available from mid-2025, the Market Kitchen will feature a live cooking station, while showcasing producers from across the state.  The lounge also features locally sourced furniture, lighting and natural materials, including a commissioned blown glass light installation from the JamFactory.  Additionally, around 80 percent of the seats have access to USB-A/C and wireless charging mats.
