On Monday (June 20, 2022), Qantas announced the reintroduction of their First Class offering for guests traveling to and from Singapore. From today, the carrier will fly their recently refurbished Airbus A380 aircraft between Australia and Singapore featuring 14 First Suites, 70 Business Suites (increased by six), 60 Premium Economy seats (increased by 25), and 341 Economy Class seats (decreased by 30). The onboard lounge has also been redesigned by David Caon in a supper club style, a bespoke snack menu and seating for 10. Qantas will operate a daily return Airbus A380 flight from Sydney to Singapore with continued service to London, as well as 20 weekly A330 flights from Singapore to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.

Additionally, Qantas has reopened their First Lounge at Singapore’s Changi Airport. The popular lounge originally opened in December 2019 and temporarily closed after only three months due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The First lounge operates alongside the Qantas Business Lounge in Singapore.

In Monday’s announcment, Qantas Group’s Chief Customer Officer, Stephanie Tully, said,

“We’d only just opened our brand-new First lounge before the pandemic forced its closure. Many of our Frequent Flyers never had the chance to see it. We’re delighted to once again welcome our customers back to this beautiful lounge at Changi Airport. Our lounge team is excited to be back and eager to offer the warmest hospitality to Qantas and our partner airline customers. Singapore plays an important role in Qantas’s worldwide network as we continue to ramp up capacity in line with strong travel demand. It’s great to have our First offering back both in the air and on the ground at Changi Airport, which is consistently recognised as one of the best airports in the world.”

Qantas’ 1,000 square meter First Lounge can accommodate 240 guests and offers a fine dining experience designed by Neil Perry and a menu inspired by Singapore’s vibrant dining scene. Featured dishes include a signature Laksa with Crayfish and Rice Noodles, Barramundi with Sambal Browned Butter and Shrimp-based Chicken Wings. The Carrara marble bar invites guests to enjoy an extensive beverage menu featuring Champagne and other bespoke cocktails, including Merlion Blush and barista coffee. The lounge was designed by Australian industrial designer David Caon in collaboration with architect Kevin Ho of Akin Atelier, with an aesthetic that provides a sense of calming luxury with a Singaporean twist and pops of greenery.
