American Airlines Celebrates Inaugural A321XLR Flight Between New York-JFK and Edinburgh

American Airlines’ first international Airbus A321XLR flight took place on Sunday, March 8, 2026 with service from New York-JFK to Edinburgh, Scotland.

On Monday, March 9, 2026, American Airlines announced that the inaugural international flight of their new Airbus A321XLR took place on Sunday, March 8, 2026 with service between New York (JFK) and Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI). American is the first U.S. airline to introduce the versatile A321XLR and operate the aircraft on transcontinental routes, and also now to Scotland. American’s A321XLR features 20 luxurious Flagship Suite® seats, a dozen relaxing Premium Economy seats and 123 reimagined Main Cabin seats. The aircraft provides guests with a premium trans-Atlantic journey complete with high-speed Wi-Fi and complimentary seatback entertainment featuring Bluetooth connectivity.
Additionally, for golfers and golf aficionados wanting to see who tops the leaderboard, American will offer the most flights and the most seats of any airline to Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) between April 5th and 13th. American’s schedule to golf’s first major of the year is 6.0 percent larger than last year, with up to 23 return daily flights. American is the only carrier to offer travelers direct service to Augusta from Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth Miami, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Phoenix.
