Porter Airlines Celebrates Inaugural Flights From Ottawa to Boston, New York and Thunder Bay

Porter Airlines has launched new routes between Ottawa and Boston, New York/Newark, and Thunder Bay. The routes new daily nonstop routes will be serviced with a 78-seat De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400.

On Monday (March 27, 2023), Porter Airlines celebrated the launch of three new nonstop routes to/from Ottawa International Airport (YOW), with daily service to Boston (BOS) and double daily flights to New York/Newark (EWR) and Thunder Bay (YQT). All three routes will be serviced with a 78-seat De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 turboprop aircraft. With the new routes, Porter becomes the only airline offering year-round direct daily flights from Ottawa to Boston and Thunder Bay. In total, Porter now offers eight nonstop routes from Ottawa, with Charlottetown scheduled to become the ninth from May 17, 2023. Additionally, new maintenance hangars are currently under construction at YOW, which will serve as Porter’s primary maintenance facility for their new Embraer E195-E2 fleet.


In Monday’s announcement, Porter Airlines’ Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Kevin Jackson, said,


“This builds on our already extensive network in Eastern Canada and substantially increases the number of destinations served directly from Ottawa. Porter connects passengers coast-to-coast, with the level of service and generosity that economy travellers deserve.”


Also commenting on Porter’s expansion, Ottawa International Airport Authority’s President and CEO, Mark Laroche, added,
