Porter Airlines is celebrating the launch of their inaugural flight between Toronto Pearson and Liberia, Costa Rica, their first route to Central America.

On Thursday (December 4, 2025), Porter Airlines celebrated the launch of new service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR), marking the airline’s first route to Central America. The Toronto-Liberia route will now operate up to six times weekly. Flights will be operated with a 132-seat Embraer E195-E2, featuring free, fast Wi-Fi onboard. Porter’s industry-leading elevated economy experience also includes free beer and wine served in glassware and complimentary premium Canadian snacks.
In Thursday’s announcement, Porter Airlines’ VP – Network Planning and Reporting, Andrew Pierce, said,
“The start of service to Costa Rica means Canadians can now fly Porter when travelling to the Guanacaste province, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes that Liberia and the surrounding area have to offer. The country is a second home for many Canadians and now they have the option to begin their trip with the care and genuine hospitality that only Porter provides.”
Also commenting on the new Costa Rica service, Toronto Pearson International Airport’s Chief Commercial Officer, Kurush Minocher, said,
“Porter’s launch of service to Liberia represents an exciting milestone in the airline’s international growth and responds directly to the strong demand from Toronto Pearson. Over 140,000 passengers travel between Pearson and Liberia each year, and Porter’s new service will provide even greater choice and convenience for travellers, connecting them more seamlessly to one of Canada’s most popular winter destinations.”
This is the fourth in a series of new southern routes that Porter is launching this winter, including Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Nassau. It also complements joint venture partner Air Transat’s network, giving travelers even more options for reaching southern vacation destinations.
