PLAY has added three additional destinations to their summer 2021 schedule, including Dublin, Madrid and Brussels. The carrier will offer three weekly flights to Dublin from the end of April, three weekly flights to Brussels from May and twice-weekly service to Madrid in June.

On Thursday (December 2, 2021), PLAY Airlines announced the addition of Dublin, Madrid and Brussels to their summer 2022 schedule. Starting at the end of April, the carrier will offer three weekly flights to Dublin, with three weekly services to Brussels starting in May. From June, PLAY will add twice-weekly service to Madrid. In total, the airline will offer service to 23 European destinations for 2022, including Lisbon, Bologna, Stuttgart and Prague, to name a few. Madrid will become Play’s seventh destination in Spain, as the carrier currently operates flights to Alicante, Barcelona, Gran Canaria and Tenerife, and will add Malaga and Mallorca to their route network next year.
In Thursday’s announcement, PLAY’s CEO, Birgir Jónsson, said,
“It’s really enjoyable to add more destinations in Europe that will strengthen our route schedule. We are confident that these destinations will boost PLAY´s operations and that our flights between Iceland and these cities will be popular among those living there.”
Founded in 2019 by Arnar Magnússon, PLAY is a new Iceland-based low-cost carrier (LCC) which operates flights between Iceland and Europe, and has future plans to offer transatlantic long-haul service between Europe and North America. The airline launched their inaugural passenger revenue flight on Thursday, June 24, 2021, with service between Keflavík International Airport (KEF) and London Stansted (STN). PLAY’s fleet of Airbus A321neos currently connects customers to 16 European destinations. Next spring, the carrier will have added new aircraft to their fleet, prior to the launch of low-cost transatlantic flights to North America.
