Oman Air and EGYPTAIR Ink Codeshare Agreement, Expanding Network Reach of Both Airlines

Oman Air and EGYPTAIR have signed a codeshare agreement on flights between Muscat and Cairo, expanding the network reach for both airlines. The new codeshare marks the carriers’ commitment to a strong post-pandemic restart for air travel.

On Thursday (April 29, 2021), Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, announced the signing of a new codeshare agreement with EGYPTAIR, the national carrier of Egypt and a leading airline in the MENA region. The airlines will codeshare on flights between Muscat and Cairo, providing more choices for their customers. Oman Air guests traveling to Cairo will enjoy seamless one-stop domestic connections on EGYPTAIR’s network to cities including Sharm El-Sheikh, Luxor, Aswan and Hurghada, as well as international connections to Casablanca in Morocco. Likewise, travelers from Cairo will have easy access to Oman Air’s domestic flights to Salalah, and international network destinations such as Karachi (Pakistan), Colombo (Sri Lanka) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).


In Thursday’s announcement, Oman Air’s Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Abdulaziz Al Raisi, said,


“EGYPTAIR has a remarkable, long-standing history in the MENA region and enjoys a strong international presence as a Star Alliance member. The codeshare agreement with Oman Air offers guests from Muscat more options for discovering Egypt, whether for business or leisure, and plays a vital role in the travel restart endeavours of both airlines.”


Also commenting on the new codeshare partnership, EGYPTAIR Holding’s CEO, Captain Amr Abu El-Enein, added,


“Cooperation with partners is essential for sustainability during this critical period, therefore, signing this agreement between two partners with special attributes like EGYPTAIR & Oman Air will further add more benefits for both airlines’ customers. EGYPTAIR was the first airline in MENA to join IATA and our deep industry expertise has allowed us to successfully overcome many obstacles throughout our history.”
