Norse Atlantic Airways has partnered with the Goethe-Institut to promote cultural exchange between Berlin and New York throughout summer 2024. Through the partnership, Norse will facilitate travel for artists between the two cities.
On Thursday (May 9, 2024), Norse Atlantic Airways announced that they have partnered with the Goethe-Institut to promote cultural exchange between Berlin and New York this summer by facilitating travel for artists between the two iconic cities. Norse Atlantic currently operates up to four weekly flights between Berlin and New York, and will support the Goethe-Institut with flights for artists traveling for cultural projects and events.
In Thursday’s announcement, Norse Atlantic Airways’ Founder and CEO, Bjørn Tore Larsen, said,
“We are very pleased to be able to support these projects in partnership with New York Goethe-Institut by facilitating the sharing of cultural diversity and the works of these esteemed artists. We take pride in enabling more people to explore the world and experience other cultures first hand thanks to our affordable fares.”
Also commenting on the new air transportation collaboration, the Goethe-Institut New York’s Director, Jörg Schumacher, added,
“We are delighted with this collaboration that will create a vibrant cultural exchange. Through cooperation with Norse Atlantic, we can further advance our mission to increase international cultural awareness and we look forward to welcoming many artists to New York this summer.”
The partnership projects this summer will include the Artist Talk Series ‘Art & Weise’, the ‘Helen und Kurt Wolff Prize’ formal award ceremony, and Das ‘festival neue literatur’, a festival showcasing German-speaking authors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Additionally, The German Film Office at the Goethe-Institut will showcase filmmakers and actors at various events across the U.S.
The Goethe-Institut is the global cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany, and currently operates 151 institutes across 98 countries. The institute promotes the German language, while fostering international and cultural cooperation. Including partnerships with other institutions, the Goethe-Institut has approximately 1,000 contact points worldwide. In New York, the Goethe-Institut has been linking Germany, Europe and the U.S. since 1969, and manages a network of partners in culture and education in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Through the GAPP student exchange program, established in 1972, and the German Film Office, established in 2020, the institute reaches target groups across the U.S.
Founded in March 2021 by major shareholder and CEO Bjørn Tore Larsen, Norse Atlantic Airways offers affordable transatlantic and European flights. The airline’s first flight between Oslo and the U.S. departed on June 14, 2022. The company’s head office is located in Arendal, Norway, and Norse has a second office in London. Norse has a fleet of 15 modern, fuel-efficient Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
