On strong demand, Lufthansa will reactivate Airbus A380 operations after a three year pandemic-related hiatus. Daily A380 service between Munich and Boston will start on June 1st, while daily super jumbo service to New York-JFK will commence on July 4, 2023.
On Wednesday (March 22, 2023), Lufthansa announced the reactivation of Airbus A380 service for summer 2023 after a three year interruption due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. From June 1st, 2023, the carrier will launch daily A380 service between Munich (MUC) and Boston (BOS) as flight LH424, while daily super jumbo service to New York (JFK) as LH410 will commence on July 4, 2023. With 509 seats, the Airbus A380 offers 80 percent more capacity than the Airbus A340-600 currently deployed on the Munich-New York (JFK) route.
Lufthansa’s A380s are configured in four classes with eight seats in First Class, 78 Business Class, 52 Premium Economy, and 371 Economy Class seats. Flights on Lufthansa’s largest aircraft are bookable from today, March 23, 2023. Due to a significant increase in demand and delivery delays of ordered aircraft, Lufthansa decided to reactivate the Airbus A380 in 2022. The super-jumbo double-decker aircraft is particularly popular with both crew members and guests. By the end of 2023, a total of four Airbus A380s will once again be deployed from Munich.
