On Friday (August 27, 2021), Lufthansa announced the launch of daily quarantine-free service to Singapore for fully vaccinated travelers on select flights originating in Germany starting September 16, 2021. Germany is the first country to sign an agreement with Singapore allowing special Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flights, which will be offered jointly by Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines. Each airline will offer one daily flight from Frankfurt or Munich and flights are now available for booking.

In Friday’s announcement, Lufthansa’s Head of Sales – Asia-Pacific, Elise Becker, said,

“Singapore opening up not only enables people to visit friends and family or meet business partners again, but also sends an important signal to other countries in the region. It is more important than ever that countries work together to find solutions to restore international air travel as well. Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines are making a significant contribution to this development.”

To qualify for a VTL flight to Singapore, customers must have been fully vaccinated in Germany or Singapore with the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty, Moderna or other WHO EUL vaccine. Travelers must also have stayed in Germany and/or Singapore at least 21 consecutive days prior to departure for Singapore. Additionally, a COVID-19 PCR test with a negative result must be taken no more than 48 prior to departure and a second PCR test must be taken upon arrival in Singapore. While waiting for the test results in Singapore, travelers must stay in their specified hotel or other accommodation in Singapore. Depending on the customers length of stay in Singapore, a maximum of two additional PCR tests may be required. Finally, flights must be booked on a designated VTL flight and German citizenship is not required.
