Lufthansa Cargo has announced that they have renewed and expanded their agreement to use IATA’s CargoIS air cargo data solution, extending an over decade-long partnership.
On Tuesday (March 12, 2024), Lufthansa Cargo announced that they have renewed and extended their partnership with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to utilize the latter’s CargoIS for air cargo data needs. This partnership has spanned for over a decade, and under the new agreement, Lufthansa Cargo will also join the IATA CargoIS Direct Data (CDD) contribution program, which facilitates the collective sharing and pooling of anonymized data across more than 230 participating airlines. The CDD empowers stakeholders to benchmark performance, identify industry trends, and make informed decisions within the competitive air cargo sector.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Lufthansa Cargo’s CEO, Ashwin Bhat, said,
“We are pleased to announce the extension of our partnership with IATA through CargoIS. The market intelligence it has provided us over the years and has played a key role in shaping our strategic planning and improving our operational efficiency. This extended collaboration not only helps us to refine our shipping strategies but also ensures our position at the forefront of the industry, guided by data-driven decision-making.”
Also commenting on the partnership extension, IATA’s Director General and CEO, Willie Walsh, said,
“Our decade-long partnership with on market intelligence related to air cargo highlights the value of IATA’s cargo data products and trust in our data intelligence solutions. CargoIS helps our customers to make better strategic decisions. Continuing and expanding our partnership with Lufthansa Cargo underscores the importance of leveraging data-driven insights to enhance efficiency and sustainability in the air cargo industry.”
IATA’s CargoIS platform covers an expansive network of over 80,000 unique city pairs, giving airlines and other stakeholders insights into market dynamics. CargoIS transforms vast data sets into actionable insights, and allows users to efficiently navigate the complexity of the air cargo market, creating a competitive advantage and excellence in operations.
