Lufthansa Cargo Names Philip Rauchhaus Head of Region for DACH & EMEA

Lufthansa Cargo has appointed Philip Rauchhaus as Head of Region for DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) & EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa).

On Monday (January 22, 2024), Lufthansa Cargo announced the appointment of Philip Rauchhaus as the Head of Region for DACH & EMEA.  In his new role, the former Head of Sales for Frankfurt will manage and coordinate the markets of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as hey accounts for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.  Oliver von Goetz and Dr. André Schulz will remain in charge of the sales regions for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. 


In Monday’s announcement, Lufthansa Cargo’s CEO, Ashwin Bhat, said,


“With Philip Rauchhaus, we are delighted to have gained an experienced manager for this position who knows the air freight industry inside out.  Thanks to his expertise within the company and the experience he brings with him, he will provide new impulses in the marketing of our airfreight capacities and the cooperation with our customers, especially in our home market.”


Mr. Rauchhaus holds a degree in business administration and joined Lufthansa Cargo in 2009.  After a short time, he became Head of Handling, Process and Quality Management for Germany.  In 2014, he became Head of Revenue Management, before being appointed Senior Director Market and Network Planning in 2017.  Since 2022, he has been Lufthansa Cargo’s Senior Director of Sales for the company’s Frankfurt hub.  Previously, Achim Martinka headed the German sales department before departing the company at his own request on October 31, 2023.


With revenue of €4.6 billion and 7.2 billion freight ton kilometers in 2022, Lufthansa Cargo is one of the world’s leading air freight companies, employing approximately 4,100 team members worldwide.  The cargo carrier serves around 300 destinations in over 100 countries with a dedicated fleet of freighters, as well as belly-hold cargo capacity of passenger aircraft operated by Lufthansa German Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings Discover and SunExpress.  The airline is currently equipping their fleet of dedicated 777 Freighters with Sharkskin technology to reduce drag and expand their SAF program to further reduce CO2 emissions.  The company also operates an extensive road feeder service network.  Lufthansa Cargo is a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and is the Group’s logistics specialist.
