On Tuesday, LOT Polish Airlines announced the resumption of domestic flights from June 1st, 2020. The carrier will offer up to three daily flights between Warsaw and Gdansk, up to twice daily service between Warsaw and Krakow, Poznan, Rzeszow, Szczecin, Wroclaw and Zielona Gora as well as once daily service between Krakow and Gdansk. For the first two weeks of June, LOT will serve eight domestic airports and for the comfort and safety of passengers the carrier’s #BezpiecznyLOT procedure (developed on recommendations from the Chief Sanitary Inspector and international industry organizations) will apply. In Tuesday’s announcement, LOT Polish Airlines’ Board Member and Chief Operating Officer, Michał Fijoł said,

“We start the resumption of connections very carefully, taking into account the safety of our passengers and on-board crews. First of all, based on the #BezpiecznyLOT procedure, we provide regular, domestic flights. At the same time, we intensely cooperate with airports and services responsible for public health in order to refine safety procedures for resumed flights. According to the ‘no contact’ principle we develop a standard for protective materials or the preparation of as many self-service stations as possible. We do it to enable our passengers to comfortably and with minimized epidemic risk around Poland, on board LOT’s planes from June 1.”’

The carrier’s #BezpiecznyLOT procedures encompass a passenger’s entire journey, starting when they arrive at the airport. Customers must cover their mouth and nose, have their temperature checked and practice social distancing. To limit contact between LOT staff and guests, online check-in and self-service boarding are now mandatory. All LOT aircraft are equipped with HEPA filters that remove 99.9% of bacteria and airborne viruses and are regularly disinfected with special biocides. Cabin crew members are equipped with PPE including masks and gloves and passengers are required to cover their mouths and noses throughout the flight. In order to minimize contact, beverages and snacks will be served in individual packages. Guests will only be permitted to carry one personal item onboard (55cm/40cm/23cm – up to 10 kg), such as a backpack, purse, laptop or shopping bag.
