On Wednesday (April 15, 2026), easyJet announced a major expansion of their network in Morocco with the opening of a new base in Marrakesh, the carrier’s first-ever base in Africa.  From Marrakesh, the carrier is launching six new routes, and increasing to year-round on several existing routes.  This launch has been enabled by the development partnership between easyJet and the Moroccan National Tourist Office (MNTO), and with three based aircraft, easyJet becomes the second largest airline in Marrakesh.  For winter 2026/27, easyJet will launch new service to Marrakesh from Prague, Newcastle, Zurich, as well as between Nantes and Essaouira, and from Bordeaux and Birmingham to Agadir.  Additionally, existing service from Marrakesh to Lille, Strasbourg and Hamburg will be increased to year-round.  In total, easyJet serves five airports in Morocco, including Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat, Essaouira, and Tangier.

Speaking at a special event in Marrakesh today, easyJet’s CEO, Kenton Jarvis, said,

“We couldn’t be happier to launch our base in Morocco for our 20th year of operations in the country and to mark the milestone of 20 million passengers flown over that time.  This is a milestone for our development in the region, providing more travel opportunities than ever before for our airline and holidays customers, while contributing to the local economy through tourism and the jobs we are creating.”

easyJet’s new permanent, year-round base in Marrakech has enabled the creation of one hundred new jobs and thousands of indirect jobs. The carrier’s growth in Morocco also has a positive impact on easyJet holidays’ proposition, as Morocco continues to be one of the fastest-growing markets for package holidays.  In Marrakech, easyJet holidays offers over 70 hotels from three to five stars, including a selection of hand-picked luxury hotels for the ‘Luxury Collection,’ launched in October 2025 in the UK, with the first customers traveling this month.
