On Thursday (April 16, 2026), LATAM Airlines Group announced that their future Airbus A321XLR aircraft fleet will feature a Premium Business cabin with Thompson Aero Seating VantageSOLO fully lie-flat seats, making them the first airline in South America to offer this premium experience on single-aisle aircraft.  With deliveries scheduled to start in 2027, LATAM’s new A321XLRs will accommodate 170+ passengers across Premium Business and Economy cabins.  The new Premium Business cabin will introduce a 1-1 configuration delivering direct aisle access for all guests, while the Economy Class cabin will feature a 3-3 configuration with Recaro R3 seats.

In Thursday’s announcement, LATAM Airlines Group’s Chief Customer Officer, Paulo Miranda, said,

“The Airbus A321XLR allows us to take our value proposition to the next level and elevate the travel experience for our passengers.  We are introducing a Premium Business cabin on single-aisle aircraft, with long-haul standards of comfort, connectivity and privacy, and a design inspired by South America.  This allows us to offer more travel options, strengthen our network, and deliver a more consistent experience for our passengers.”

In addition to the new seating, LATAM is introducing a renewed onboard experience featuring Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth and, for the first time in its single-aisle fleet, an inflight entertainment (IFE) system with individual screens.  The Airbus A321XLR is an important step in LATAM Group’s fleet growth and renewal strategy.  With an increase in range of over 50 percent compared to other A320neo Family members, the A321XLR will enable the Group to launch new routes and strengthen connectivity between South America and more distant destinations.  Currently, LATAM has a commitment for more than 10 A321XLRs, with the first deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027.

This announcement was made during 2026 Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, Germany, one of the leading international trade fairs for the industry.  During the event, LATAM unveiled a teaser of the new onboard experience for its A321XLR aircraft, featuring Thompson Aero Seating’s VantageSOLO Suite for the Premium Business cabin and Recaro’s R3 seat for Economy.  The cabin concept was developed by LATAM in collaboration with PriestmanGoode, who advised on the design vision and material selection for both cabins, including working alongside Thompson Aero Seating on the customization of the business class suite, lighting and interior finishes.
