Korean Air has marked a major milestone with the delivery of their 5,000th Sharklet for the Airbus A320 Family, highlighting the success of their aerostructures business, and reinforcing the company’s role in the global aerospace supply chain.

On Friday (April 24, 2026) Korean Air announced the delivery of their 5,000th Sharklet for the Airbus A320 Family. The milestone occasion was marked by a ceremony on April 23rd, attended by Korean Air’s EVP and Chief Safety and Operating Officer, Jong Seok Yoo, Airbus’ Chief Procurement Officer, Benoit Schultz, and other dignitaries. The ceremony was held at Korean Air’s Busan Tech Center, where attendees also had the opportunity to tour the airline’s aerostructure manufacturing and MRO facilities.
In Thursday's announcement, Korean Air’s EVP and Chief Safety and Operating Officer, Jong Seok Yoo, said,
“This milestone reflects Korean Air’s engineering excellence and long-standing partnership with Airbus. We will continue to advance our capabilities and uphold the highest quality standards to support the global aerospace industry.”
Sharklets are an L-shaped wingtip device installed on Airbus A320 Family aircraft which reduces drag, thereby improving fuel efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. Korean Air was selected as a manufacturer for the A320 Sharklet program in 2010 following a competitive bid. Since their first delivery in July 2012, Korean Air has used their Auto Moving Line system to achieve significantly improved production capacity.
