On Wednesday (September 28, 2022), KLM Royal Dutch Airlines announced their winter 2022/23 schedule, which will include service to 163 destinations, including 92 European and 71 intercontinental. The winter schedule will run from October 28, 2022 through March 25, 2023, and will also include new service to Nantes (France), Aarhus (Denmark) and Katowice (Poland). Starting October 29th, Nantes will be served twice daily, while both Aarhus and Katowice will be served daily. KLM’s European network will also include service to Rovaniemi (Finland) which will be offered once weekly from December 3, 2022 through March 25, 2023. Additionally, KLM will increase frequencies to Teesside, Humberside, Cardiff, Southampton (UK) and Graz (Austria). The carrier will also offer daily service to Naples (Italy) and Split (Croatia).

For winter 2022/23 KLM will serve 19 destinations in North America, and will also continue service to Austin, Texas which was introduced in summer. The carrier will offer 10 weekly flights to Los Angeles, three more than last winter, and will continue service to Cancun, which was introduced in 2021. This winter KLM’s new Premium Comfort Class will be available for booking to several U.S. and Canadian destinations. The new product combines elements of both Economy Class and World Business Class, with comfortable seats and more legroom, along with a new service concept.

KLM will also increase service to the Caribbean, especially the Netherlands Antilles, by around 20 percent compared to winter 2019. As an example, the carrier will offer at least 10 weekly flights to Curaçao, including double daily service during Christmas. Daily flights to Aruba, combined with Bonaire, will be operated with a 408-seat Boeing 777-300ER. KLM will also operate flights to Bridgetown (Barbados) and Port of Spain (Trinidad & Tobago). South American service will increase six percent compared to winter 2021, including daily service to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Peru, as well as four weekly flights to Costa Rica, and five weekly Boeing 777-300ER flights to Paramaribo. Once again, KLM will start combining Buenos Aires (Argentina) service with Santiago de Chile (Chile).

Additionally, KLM will introduce three more weekly flights to Cape Town, complementing the existing daily ‘day flight’, allowing customers to choose ‘night flights’ three times per week. This winter customers can also fly to Zanzibar in combination with Dar es Salaam (Tanzania). It will also become increasingly possible for customers to book KLM’s new Comfort Class on flights to Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, as the airline reconfigures more long-haul aircraft, starting with their Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.

For Asia, KLM will increase capacity year-over-year by at least 50 percent, as many Southeast Asian destinations have now reopened to foreign visitors. Direct flights to Tokyo Narita will once again be operated, although diverted due to the closure of Russian airspace. Flights to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) with continuing service to Jakarta (Indonesia) will be operated directly this winter, rather than via Singapore. Service to Bangalore (India) which was introduced last summer will also continue this winter. Flights to China will remain limited for the time being, though the carrier will fly to Shanghai/Hangzhou three time per week this winter with a stopover at Seoul Incheon.
