On Thursday (December 17, 2020), JetBlue announced the addition of four new destinations for the first half of 2021, as part of their overall plane to add 24 new nonstop routes during the first half of the new year. The new routes include service to Miami, Key West (Florida), Guatemala City and Los Cabos, Mexico. Nine of JetBlue’s 24 new routes will serve the four new destinations from JetBlue focus cities, while the remaining 15 markets will link existing JetBlue cities with new nonstop service. Tickets for the new routes are available starting today. In Thursday’s announcement, JetBlue’s Head of Revenue and Planning, Scott Laurence, said,

“This year has pushed us to find new ways of operating our business and we’ve adapted at a pace we’ve never seen before, pivoting our network in response to changing customer demand. We’re continuing to play offense to bring in cash revenue and support our business recovery. These network additions help fine-tune our geography in ways that make sense in today’s market.”

From February 11, 2021, JetBlue will operate daily nonstop service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Boston (BOS), and Los Angeles (LAX). The service between Miami and the Northeast will operate throughout the day, providing convenient departure times in both directions and flights to Los Angeles will include JetBlue’s award-winning Mint premium service. Miami International Airport is the busiest U.S. airport not currently served by JetBlue. The new service will expand the carrier’s footprint in Florida, while advancing their focus city growth strategy in the Northeast and on the West Coast.

Also commenting on Thursday’s announcement, MIA’s Director and CEO, Lester Sola, added,

“I wish JetBlue my deepest thanks and congratulations for making this monumental expansion to MIA, and for their significant investment of flights to the Miami market. Welcoming one of the world’s leading low-cost carriers and busiest airlines to our network is a major landmark event in our airport’s history. Their new daily flights on four popular U.S. routes provide a diverse menu of travel options to our passengers and will generate increased business revenue and job creation in our community.”

JetBlue is also launching service to Key West International Airport (EYW), from New York (JFK) and Boston (BOS). The popular island city is the southernmost point in the U.S and features popular leisure activities such as dolphin encounters, kayaking, diving, snorkeling and boat rentals. The quaint city features pastel-hued houses, relaxing beaches and a vibrant nightlife on the world-famous Duval Street.

Additionally, JetBlue is launching new daily service between New York (JFK) and Guatemala City’s La Aurora International Airport (GUA) from April 15, 2021. Guatemala City will become JetBlue’s 25th international destination as they expand their leadership position in Latin America and the Caribbean. Finally, the carrier will launch daily service to San José del Cabos International Airport (SJD) in Los Cabos, Mexico from both New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX) starting June 17, 2021.

Except for MIA-LAX Mint flights, the new routes to Miami, Guatemala City and Los Cabos will be serviced with Airbus A320s, while the Key West routes will be serviced with Embraer E190s. JetBlue also announced the launch of 15 new nonstop markets between existing JetBlue cities with a focus on Florida, Latin American, Caribbean and transcontinental flying.

JetBlue is ‘New York’s Hometown Airline® and a leading carrier in Boston (BOS), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Los Angeles (LAX), Orlando (MCO) and San Juan (SJU). The airline carries guests to destinations across the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America. JetBlue Airways Corporation trades on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol JBLU.
