ITA Airways will launch a new direct connection between Milan Malpensa and New York-JFK from Saturday, April 2, 2022. The route will operate five times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
On Friday (April 1, 2022) ITA Airways announced the launch of new nonstop service between Milan Malpensa and New York-JFK starting Saturday, April 2, 2022. The route will operate five times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays with and Airbus A330-200 configured with Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class cabins. The flights will depart Milan Malpensa at 13:40 and arrive in New York at 17:00. The return flight departs JFK at 20:55 and arrives in Milan at 11:05 (all times local).
The new route complements ITA’s existing service between Rome Fiumicino and New York-JFK, as well as connections from Rome to Miami and Boston which were launched in March. The carrier plans to offer 42 weekly flights between Italy and the U.S. by August. For summer 2022, ITA Airways’ schedule includes 64 new destinations, with 23 domestic, 34 international and 7 intercontinental destinations. In the coming months, the airline will also launch intercontinental service to Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Tokyo.
Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA Airways) was founded in November 2020 and is the new Italian national carrier wholly-owned by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance. Commencing operations in October 2021, the carrier currently has a fleet of 45 narrowbody and seven widebody aircraft, including 18 Airbus A319s, 27 A320s and seven A330s. During 2022, ITA Airways’ fleet will grow to 78 aircraft, increasing to 105 aircraft by the end of 2025 (82 narrowbody aircraft and 23 widebodies).
