ITA Airways and KM Malta Airlines have signed a broad codeshare agreement that connects both carriers’ networks and flights. Customers will enjoy single-ticket itinerary booking, check-in at departure airport, and baggage checked through to the final destination.
On Thursday (June 27, 2024), ITA Airways announced the launch of a new comprehensive codeshare agreement with KM Malta Airlines. Under the new codeshare, ITA Airways will place their ‘AZ’ marketing code on KM Malta flights between Malta and Italy. Likewise, KM Malta will codeshare on ITA Airways’ flights from Malta to Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate, as well as onward to Italian domestic services and select international routes.
In Thursday’s announcement, KM Malta’s Executive Chairman, David Curmi, said,
“This codeshare agreement significantly broadens our reach to various airports in Italy and beyond. Italy holds an important position in the strategy of KM Malta Airlines, and this collaboration is poised to enhance our presence in the Italian market. We look forward to further collaboration with ITA Airways to deliver more advantages to our customers in partnership with ITA Airways expanding international network.”
Also commenting on the new codeshare partnership. ITA Airways’ General Manager, Andrea Benassi, added,
“We are pleased to sign this codeshare agreement with KM Malta Airlines. This partnership is a significant step in ITA Airways' growth strategy, enhancing connectivity for our passengers. It creates a privileged and convenient travel route between Italy and Malta, further strengthening the economic and commercial ties between our two countries.”
For the summer 2024 season, which runs through October 26, 2024, KM Malta Airlines will offer service to 17 airports across 15 Key European cities, namely Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Catania, Dusseldorf, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Lyon, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Paris Orly, Prague, Rome, Vienna and Zurich.
ITA Airways is serving 57 destinations this summer, including 16 domestic, 26 international and 15 intercontinental destinations. The carrier has also recently introduced new direct flights from Rome Fiumicino to key markets in North America, Africa and the Middle East, including Chicago, Toronto, Riyadh and Accra. New direct flights to Dakar and Jeddah will also be inaugurated soon. These new routes complement ITA’s existing intercontinental service to New York, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, Washington, San Francisco, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Tokyo and New Delhi.
