ITA Airways and Turkish Airlines Ink Codeshare Agreement

ITA Airways and Turkish Airlines have launched a new codeshare partnership that will be in effect from July 2023 and will enhance connectivity between Italy and Türkiye.

On Monday (June 5, 2023), ITA Airways announced the launch of a new codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines. Effective July 2023, ITA Airways will place their marketing code on Turkish Airlines’ flights between Rome and Istanbul. Likewise, Turkish Airlines will place their marketing code on ITA Airways’ flights from Rome to nine destinations, including Brindisi, Bari, Catania, Florence, Genoa , Palermo, Lamezia, Terme, Turin and Trieste. Through the new partnership, guest of both airlines will enjoy enhanced connectivity between Italy and Türkiye, and the convenience of a single ticket on codeshared itineraries, as well through check-in of passengers and luggage to their final destination.


In Monday’s announcement, ITA Airways’ General Manager and CEO, Fabio Lazzerini, said,


“With the codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines, ITA Airways’ commercial strategy of growth makes a step forward, together with the existing partnerships with the world's leading carriers. This partnership opens up a privileged access route to Istanbul, one of the most fascinating and historically rich cities in the world for all ITA Airways passengers. This agreement represents the Company's 32nd codeshare: an excellent result we have achieved in less than two years.”


Also commenting on the new codeshare partnership, Turkish Airlines’ CEO, Mr. Bilal Ekşi, added,

“Rome and Istanbul have always been exceptional cities to attract and connect people. I firmly believe this codeshare agreement between Turkish Airlines and ITA Airways will be developing the existing network with even more destinations and foster cooperation and traffic between two countries with high potential. In addition, this partnership is well on the way to generate positive energy for tourism, expand Turkish Airlines’ reach and enhance customer benefits.”


Turkish Airlines was founded in 1933 and currently offers service to over 340 destinations in 129 countries from their home airport in Istanbul, Türkiye, more than any other airline in the world. In 2008, the airline became a member of the Star Alliance, and the carrier operates a modern fleet of 416 passenger and cargo aircraft.


Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA Airways) was founded in November 2020 and is the new Italian national carrier. Commencing operations in October 2021, the SkyTeam alliance member airline is committed to providing superior customer service through strong digitization processes that ensure a personalized, best-in-class guest experience.
