IndiGo Commences Flights Between Male in the Maldives and Kochi, India

IndiGo announced on Thursday the launch of twice-weekly flights between Male in the Maldives and Kochi, India effective immediately. The new flights commenced under an ‘Air Bubble’ established by both governments.

On Thursday (September 3, 2020), Indian carrier IndiGo announced the launch of new service between Kochi, India and Male under an ‘Air Bubble’ agreement between the governments of India and the Maldives. The Kochi-Male-Kochi flights will be operated twice-weekly, effective immediately. IndiGo has implemented numerous health and safety measures to ensure a safe and hassle-free journey for all guests. In Thursday’s announcement, IndiGo’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. William Boulter, said,
“We are pleased to resume connections between India and Maldives, starting with two weekly flights between Male and Kochi under Air Bubble. Male will be connected to various domestic destinations in India from Kochi, while providing a safe and hassle-free flying experience onboard a lean, clean, flying machine. India is one of the key markets for inbound tourism for Maldives, while it receives a huge share of its medical tourists from Maldives. These flights will promote trade, tourism and mobility, giving a boost to economic recovery in both countries.”
