Iberia has announced that in celebration of a Centenary of Great Flight of Spanish Aviation, they have applied a viny decal with a commemorative logo designed by the Spanish Air and Space Force on an Airbus A350-900.

On Wednesday (April 8, 2026), Iberia announced that they have joined the Centenary of the Great Flights of Spanish Aviation with the vinyl of one of its aircraft, an A350-900 (registration EC-EOS), which bears the commemorative logo designed by the Spanish Air and Space Force. This tribute takes on special significance as it takes place just one year before Iberia’s 100th anniversary in 2027. The first historic flight in Spanish aviation took place in 1926, when a Plus Ultra, a twin-engine Dornier Wal seaplane modified to increase its power, became the first aircraft to cross the South Atlantic. It took off from Palos de la Frontera bound for Buenos Aires and completed the 10,270 km crossing in seven stops, including Palos, Las Palmas, Porto Praia (Cape Verde), Fernando de Noronha (Brazil), Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo and, finally, Buenos Aires. The trip took a total of 59 hours and 40 minutes, at an average speed of 172 km/hr.
On Wednesday (April 8, 2026), the specially decaled Iberia A350-900 made the same connection between Madrid and Buenos Aires, covering the distance in approximately 12 hours and 30 minutes. The unveiling of the specially decaled aircraft was attended by the President of Iberia, Marco Sansavini, and Lieutenant General Julio Nieto Sampayo, the Spanish Air Force’s Head of the Air Combat Command.
The Centenary of the Great Flights of Spanish Aviation (2026-2035) is an initiative of the Spanish Air and Space Force that commemorates the pioneering aerial feats carried out between 1926 and 1935, such as the historic Plus Ultra flight. This decade pays tribute to the audacity and innovative spirit of the aviators who placed Spain at the forefront of world aeronautics, connecting Spain with Latin America, the Philippines and Africa.
