Iberia has today announced the appointment of Joana de Epalza as the airline’s new Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Gabriel Perdiguero, who has joined IAG sister company, British Airways.

On Monday (June 1, 2026) Iberia announced the appointment of Joana de Epalza as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). With over two decades of experience in finance and management across several multinational companies, and in recent years, at Vueling, Ms. de Epalza joins Iberia at a critical time. She succeeds Gabriel Perdiguero, who has joined fellow IAG airline, British Airways. Joana de Epalza holds a degree in Economics from the University of Bordeaux Montesquieu, and will take on a pivotal role in the development of Iberia’s 2030 Flight Plan, the airline’s roadmap for the coming years.
Complementing her management experience with Vueling, Ms. de Epalza has over 20 years of experience in finance and management with Alpine, Algeco and Elliott Group, where she led financial restructuring processes, managed business integrations, and supervised complex multinational projects. Today’s announcement reaffirms IAG’s commitment to internal mobility, while demonstrating the deep bench of talent distributed across all IAG companies.
