Iberia Adds Two Flights Between Madrid and Mexico City, Expanding Frequency to 14 Weekly Services

Iberia will add two more flights between Madrid and Mexico City, expanding the route frequency to as many as 14 weekly flights from September 2021. Additionally, the carrier’s distribution agreement with Aeromexico will offer expanded connectivity in Mexico.

On Thursday (August 31, 2021), Iberia announced the addition of two more flights between Madrid and Mexico City from September 2021, expanding their weekly frequency on the route to as many as 14 flights. The carrier’s distribution agreement with Aeromexico will also provide seamless onward connections in Mexico to another 40 cities including Monterrey, Cancun, Guadalajara, Acapulco and San Luis Potosí. Likewise, Aeromexico passengers will enjoy onward connectivity in Europe to 90 destinations in Iberia’s network. Iberia services the Madrid-Mexico City route with 348-seat Airbus A350-900s, which are configured in three cabins featuring 31 Business Class, 24 Premium Economy and 293 Economy Class seats. Additionally, to facilitate travel planning, Iberia offers access to COVID-19 tests in Mexico at exclusive prices.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Iberia’s Director of LATAM Sales and Institutional Agreements, Víctor Moneo, said,

“This year we celebrate the 75th anniversary of our flights to Latin America, and in the case of Mexico our first flight dates back to 1950. Since then, our commitment to this strategic market - both from the point of view of tourism and business traffic - it remains intact. We are confident that these 14 weekly flights will help energize the market. In addition, a country as extensive as Mexico and with important tourist and economic centers beyond the capital of the country, needs to have a distribution network within the country and this has been achieved thanks to the distribution agreement with Aeroméxico. Our commitment is also consolidated by operating this route with the most advanced and silent aircraft on the market, the Airbus A-350/900, whose fleet we make available to customers to offer them the best product we have.”

To celebrate the expanded service to Mexico City, Iberia is offering introductory one-way fares from only €208 each way through September 13, 2021. As previously mentioned, Iberia has also partnered with four Mexican COVID-19 testing centers to facilitate testing at exclusive prices including the Spanish Hospital, Chopo Medical Laboratory, Lapi and Travel Air Solutions. Customers can request a PCR test by visiting Iberia.com.mx/es/covid-test or by clicking here.
