On Wednesday (May 17, 2023), Helvetic Airways announced the signing of a lease agreement with aircraft lessor TrueNoord for two additional Embraer E190s. With deliveries expected at the end of May and June 2023 respectively, the aircraft will expand the Swiss regional carrier’s fleet to 18 aircraft. Manufactured in 2013, the advanced twinjets will join the airline as HB-JVX and HB-JVY. The new aircraft will be configured with 112 seats, the same as Helvetic’s four current E190s. Helvetic Airways will deploy the new aircraft on existing routes, so the airline will, not need to recruit additional crew. Once the additional E190s are delivered, the airline’s fleet will include four Embraer E195-E2s, eight Embraer E190-E2s and six E190s.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Helvetic Airways’ CEO, Tobias Pogorevc, said,

“By giving us additional availabilities, our two new arrivals will enable us to keep our schedules stable even under the present challenging conditions, to assure our customers of high reliability, on-time services and a sound foundation for their air travel planning.

“TrueNoord specialises in regional aircraft and is therefore an ideal partner for Helvetic Airways. The two modern Embraer E190s are the perfect addition to our fleet.”

TrueNoord’s CEO, Anne-Bart Tieleman, added,

“Helvetic Airways is an outstanding Swiss regional airline with a strong reputation for quality and reliability. The long-standing partnership with its ACMI customer is a testament to its value proposition and we are proud to be a lessor partner.”

Also commenting on the new lease agreements, TrueNoord’s Sales Manager – Europe, Ahmed Ali, said,

“Despite the supply chain and MRO challenges, TrueNoord is able to make these regional aircraft available to Helvetic Airways just in time for the peak summer travel period.”

Helvetic Airways employs over 450 team members, and also operates their own MRO facility at Zurich Airport, also home to their future corporate head office.
