Helvetic Airways has signed a long-term lease agreement with Azorra for four Embraer E195-E1s. The 122-seat aircraft feature a new, modern interior and are expected to join the carrier’s fleet by the second quarter of 2024.
On Monday (January 15, 2024), Helvetic Airways announced the addition of four Embraer E195-E1s to their fleet on lease from Azorra Aviation. Built in 2011, the 122-seat aircraft feature a brand new, modern interior, and will be delivered during the second quarter of 2024. With the additional aircraft, Helvetic Airways’ fleet will grow to 22 aircraft, including four Embraer E195-E2s, eight E190-E2s, six E190s and four E195s.
In Monday’s announcement, Helvetic Airways’ CEO, Tobias Pogorevc, said,
“The four completely reconfigured and modernized aircraft will ideally complement our existing fleet. They will allow us to maintain a stable flight schedule even under the current challenging conditions and guarantee our customers a high level of reliability, planning security and, above all.”
Also commenting on the long-term lease agreements, Azorra’s Chief Marketing Officer, Michael Davis, added,
“Helvetic Airways is an exciting new customer relationship for Azorra and we appreciate their trust and commitment to this transaction. Helvetic Airways has high standards in customer service, quality and operations and we are investing in these aircraft to achieve those standards. We look forward to delivering the aircraft and assisting further in their future fleet plan and finance objectives.”
Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based Azorra Aviation is a relationship driven aircraft lessor that provides leasing, financing, fleet transition and asset management solutions to investors, financiers and airline operators worldwide. Azorra currently owns and manages a fleet of 77 aircraft on lease to 24 operators in 19 countries on five continents. The company currently has commitments to acquire new Airbus A220s and Embraer E2 jets. Azorra also has offices in Dublin, Ireland and Toulouse, France.
Swiss regional airline Helvetic Airways provides a range of short and medium-haul routes from various Swiss airports with scheduled, charter and wet-lease flights. During winter 2023/24, at least six Helvetic Airways’ Embraer E190-E2s and E195-E2s will be operated on Swiss International Air Lines under a long-term wet-lease agreement. Helvetic Airways employs over 510 team members, and also operates their own MRO facility at Zurich Airport, also home to their future corporate head office. Since 2008, Helvetic Airways has worked closely with Horizon Swiss Flight Academy AG, which is based in Kloten, Switzerland. Both companies are part of the Helvetic Airways Group, which is domiciled in Freienbach, Switzerland.
