flydubai has signed an Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) agreement with Czech Republic-based Smartwings for four Boeing 737-800NGs from November 17, 2022 through January 16, 2023.
On Friday (October 14, 202), flydubai announced the signing of a wet-lease agreement with Czech-Republic based Smartwings for four Boeing 737-800NG aircraft. The Aircraft, Crew, maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) agreement is for the period from November 17, 2022 through January 16, 2023, and will supplement flydubai’s fleet of 68 Boeing 737 Family aircraft during the busy winter travel season.
In Friday’s announcment, flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, Ghaith Al Ghaith, said,
“We are pleased to confirm this new wet lease agreement with Smartwings, an IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certified company, well-experienced in ACMI agreements. Having previously worked with Smartwings, we are confident that the leasing of four additional aircraft will provide our passengers with more convenient and reliable options for travel during the winter season.”
Also commenting on the ACMI agreement, Smartwings’ Board Member and CEO, Roman Vik, added,
“We are very appreciative to have won the trust of flydubai once again and succeeded in tough competition from other airlines. This agreement stands as testimony to the successful business cooperation of our companies, which we value greatly.”
flydubai will operate the single-class wet-leased 737-800NGs on select routes including service to Chattogram, Colombo, Dhaka, Karachi, Multan, Muscat and Sialkot. flydubai customers flying on a flight operated by Smartwings will be notified prior to their travel date to avoid any confusion.
Prague-based Smartwings is the largest Czech airline and one of the fastest growing carriers in Central Europe. The airline, which is part of the Smartwings Group, operates scheduled and charter flights, as well as private business jet service. In addition to the Czech Republic, Smartwings operates in the Slovak Republic, Poland and Hungary, with service to over 80 destinations in Europe and beyond. Most of the carrier’s flights operate in codeshare partnership with Czech Airlines, which is also part of the Smartwings Group. The Group serves 400 airports on four continents with a fleet of 42 aircraft.
flydubai has grown their network to over 100 destinations across 50 countries in Africa, Central Asia, the Caucuses, Central and South-East Europe, the GCC and the Middle East, and the Indian Subcontinent. The carrier has opened more than 70 new routes that did not previously have direct air links to Dubai or were not served by a UAE carrier. flydubai operates a single fleet type of 68 Boeing 737 aircraft including 32 737-800NGs, 33 Boeing 737-8 MAX, and three Boeing 737-9 MAX.
