On Thursday (June 17, 2021), flydubai announced the launch of twice weekly service between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Ankara Esenboga International Airport (ESB) in Turkey starting July 29, 2021. The route frequency will be doubled to four weekly flights starting October 2, 2021. The new Ankara service complements flydubai’s existing daily service to Istanbul (IST) and twice-weekly summer seasonal service to Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV) and Trabzon Airport (TZX). Service to Bodrum and Trabzon will operate from June through September.

In Thursday’s announcement, flydubai’s Chief Commercial Officer, Hamad Obaidalla, said,

“flydubai’s first flight to Turkey landed exactly 11 years ago in Istanbul. We have since grown our network to four unique destinations offering our passengers from the UAE and the region greater choice for the summer and around the year. We look forward to doubling the frequency of our operations to Ankara for the winter schedule as demand for travel continues to gradually grow.”

Also commenting on the new Ankara service, flydubai’s Senior Vice President – Commercial Operations and E-commerce, Jeyhun Efendi, added,

“flydubai remains committed to opening up underserved markets and we have grown our network to 97 destinations. The launch of operations to Ankara will provide passengers from the UAE with direct airlinks to the Turkish capital for the first time. We look forward to seeing the demand for travel grow over the summer as more countries open up for international travel. The feedback and demand for both Bodrum and Trabzon have been very positive and we look forward to giving our passengers more options to discover Turkey with the start of flights to Ankara from the end of June.”

Including the new route to Ankara, flydubai’s network has grown to 97 destinations in 50 countries. Recently, the carrier launched new service to Budapest (Hungary), Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Warsaw, Poland (from September). Additionally, flydubai has introduced summer seasonal service from June through October to destinations such as Batumi (Georgia), Bodrum and Trabzon (Turkey), Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) and Tivat (Montenegro).

Flights to Ankara will be codeshared with Emirates and will operate twice-weekly on Thursdays and Sundays out of Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport starting July 29, 2021. Return Business Class fares start at AED 7,000, while Economy Lite Fares start at AED 1,400 and Economy Value Fares start at AED 1,500. Lite Fares include a 07 kg hand baggage allowance, while Value Fares include a 20 kg checked baggage allowance, complimentary onboard meal and the option to rebook free of charge.
