flydubai Adds AlUla to Network in Saudi Arabia, Resumes Service to Yanbu

flydubai will expand their Saudi Arabian network to six destinations with the launch of twice weekly service to AlUla from March 2nd. The carrier will also resume service to the port city of Yanbu with three weekly flights starting February 24, 2022.

On Friday (February 4, 2022), flydubai announced the launch of service between Dubai and AlUla in Saudi Arabia, becoming the first UAE carrier to operate the route. The airline will offer twice weekly service on Wednesdays and Sundays to AlUla’s Prince Abdul Majeed bin Abdulaziz Airport (ULH) from March 2, 2022. Additionally, flydubai will resume operations to Yanbu, expanding their network in the Kingdom to six destinations including Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah and Riyadh. Three weekly flights to Yanbu International Airport (YNB), also known as Abdul Mohsin bin Abdulaziz Airport, will resume on February 24, 2022, and will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.


In Friday’s announcement, flydubai’s Chief Commercial Officer, Hamad Obaidalla, said,


“We are pleased to be able to offer passengers from the UAE and our network the opportunity to visit and explore one of the world’s most beautiful and untouched destinations. We are also looking forward to the resumption of our operations to Yanbu in the Al Madinah Province. flydubai is dedicated to further strengthening the cultural, trade and tourism ties between our two countries by making travel more accessible. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the authorities for their ongoing support.”

Also commenting on the new service to Al Ula, flydubai’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations – UAE, GCC, Subcontinent and Africa, Sudhir Sreedharan, added,


“We are looking forward to the start of our twice weekly service to AlUla from March. This route will be popular for our passengers from the UAE, as well as for travellers from the GCC, Russia and Central Asia. AlUla offers passengers great options for seeking immersive cultural and historical experiences as well as outdoor adventure activities, especially in the cooler winter season.”

flydubai has grown their network to over 100 destinations across 50 countries in Africa, Central Asia, the Caucuses, Central and South-East Europe, the GCC and the Middle East, and the Indian Subcontinent. The carrier has opened more than 70 new routes that did not previously have direct air links to Dubai or were not served by a UAE carrier. flydubai operates a single fleet type 55 Boeing 737s.
