On Tuesday (July 5, 2022), EVA Air announced their first European route expansion in 25 years with twice weekly service between Taipei and Milan from October 25th and four weekly flights between Taipei and Munich starting November 3, 2022. The new direct European routes complement existing service to London, Amsterdam, Paris and Vienna, solidifying the carrier’s position with the best-developed Taiwan-Europe route network with the most frequencies. Flights to Taipei from London and Amsterdam are operated with an interim stop in Bangkok. Tickets are now available for purchase on the airline’s website and other distribution channels.

Originally, EVA planned to launch service to Milan in February 2020, but delayed the start of the route due to the COVID-19 pandemic and associated lockdowns. Passengers traveling from Milan and Munich will arrive at Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) early in the morning, which will facilitate seamless onward connections to destinations across northeast and southeast Asia in EVA’s network. Both new routes from Taipei to Milan and Munich will be serviced with a Boeing 777-300ER.
