Etihad Airways to Launch New Service to Crete From June 15, 2022, Will Resume Other Seasonal Routes

Starting June 15, 2022, Etihad Airways will launch new twice weekly seasonal service to Crete, the largest Island in Greece. The carrier will also resume summer seasonal service to Malaga, Santorini and Zanzibar.

On Tuesday (February 22, 2022), Etihad Airways announced the launch of new summer seasonal service to the Greek Island of Crete from June 15, 2022. The route between Abu Dhabi and Heraklion, Crete will be operated twice weekly with an Airbus A320. From mid-June, Etihad will also resume summer seasonal service to other popular destinations including Malaga, Santorini and Zanzibar. Crete offers visitors a rich tapestry of spectacular landscapes and a vibrant culture and cuisine, along with a rich history featuring a vast array of traditional villages and historic sites. Some sites, such as the Palace of Knossos, date back over 4,000 years.


In Tuesday’s announcement, Etihad Airways’ Senior Vice President – Sales & Cargo, Martin Drew, said,


“Etihad Airways is delighted to provide travellers with more choice for their summer vacations in 2022. Crete is an ideal summer destination for travellers who are looking for a mix of beach and mountain adventures, and along with the hotspots of Malaga, Santorini and Zanzibar, makes for a perfect addition to Etihad’s summer network.”


Flights between Abu Dhabi and Crete will operate twice weekly with an Airbus A320 from June 15th, while service to Malaga will operate twice weekly with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from the same date. Santorini and Zanzibar flights will operate three times weekly with an A320 from June 16th and 17th respectively.
