Etihad Airways announced on Thursday a new codeshare agreement with low-cost carrier Air Arabia Abu Dhabi. The carrier will put their global route network ‘EY’ code on Air Arabia Abu Dhabi’s inaugural services to Alexandria and Sohag in Egypt.
Today (July 9, 2020), Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, announced a new codeshare with Abu Dhabi’s first low-cost carrier, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi. As part of the agreement, Emirates will place their global route network ‘EY’ code on Air Arabia Abu Dhabi’s inaugural services to the Egyptian cities of Alexandria and Sohag which commence on July 14th and 15th respectively. Etihad’s guests can now book flights in conjunction with Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, thereby connecting Etihad’s global network beyond Dubai with the new airline’s routes. As more Air Arabia Abu Dhabi routes are announced in the coming weeks, Etihad plans on further expanding their codeshare partnership.
Air Arabia Abu Dhabi is an independent joint venture of Etihad Airways and Air Arabia which was formed to establish a new low-cost carrier based at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The new carrier will launch their operations with two Airbus A320s which will be based at their Abu Dhabi hub.
