On Friday (August 6, 2021), Emirates announced the restart of flights to Glasgow, Scotland. From August 11th through October 30, 2021, the carrier will offer four weekly flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The route will be operated with a Boeing 777-200LR featuring premium services in Business and Economy Class cabins. Emirates flight EK 27 departs Dubai at 07:50 and arrives at Glasgow International Airport at 12:45 the same day. The return flight, EK 28, departs Glasgow at 14:35 and arrives in Dubai at 01:05 the following day (all times local). With the UAE moving to the UK’s ‘amber’ list on August 8th, travelers arriving in the UK from Dubai no longer need to quarantine, providing they are fully vaccinated.

In Friday’s announcement, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said,

“Emirates welcomes the decision to add the UAE to the UK’s ‘amber list’ for international travel, reflecting the extensive steps that have been taken to mitigate the spread of the virus in the UK and UAE. Since the UK’s announcement, we’ve seen a huge surge in queries from customers desperate to travel to see their families, planning their kids’ return for the new school term, as well as their postponed business or holiday travel. Emirates is reviewing our operations to various points in the UK and any service restart will be announced in the usual fashion.”

Emirates has rebuilt their network to 120 destinations, providing convenient connections via Dubai to the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. For added flexibility when booking travel, Emirates has extended ticket validity for 24 months for all tickets issued from April 1st, 2021. Within that period, customers can change travel dates or request a refund at no extra charge. Tickets issued before April 1st for travel through December 31, 2021 remain valid for 36 months.
