On Monday (November 17, 2025), from day one of the Dubai Airshow 2025, Boeing announced that Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has placed an order for 65 state-of-the-art Boeing 777-9 widebody airplanes.  This is the airline’s third 777X Family order, building on two previous orders totaling 205 airplanes.  Today’s order is valued at $38 billion, and includes options to convert Emirates’ latest order into the 777-8 or 777-10 models, providing strong backing for Boeing’s 777-10 feasibility study. Emirates will remain largest customer and operator of the Boeing 777 with a total orderbook of 280 aircraft including freighters, and the largest GE9X customer, with a total of 540 engines on order to power their 777X fleet, including the agreement for an additional 130 units signed today.

In Monday’s announcement, Emirates Airline and Group’s Chairman and CEO, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, said,

“Emirates is already the world's largest Boeing 777 operator, and we are expanding our commitment to the program today with additional orders for 65 Boeing 777-9s.  This is a long-term commitment to our partnership with Boeing and to U.S. aerospace.  Each of our aircraft on order have been carefully factored into Emirates’ growth plan, which is aligned to Dubai's growth plans.”

Also commenting on the new 777X Order, Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ President and CEO, Stephanie Pope, said,

“We are deeply honored that Emirates has once again selected the Boeing 777X to power its future as the airline refreshes its world-class fleet and expands its vaunted global network.  Boeing has been a proud supporter of Emirates over the past 40 years as the airline has grown into one of the world’s leading carriers and developed a reputation for excellence and innovation. We look forward to growing our partnership and for Emirates to fly Boeing airplanes for decades to come.”

Russell Stokes, President & CEO, Commercial Engines & Services for GE Aerospace, added,

“We are proud to deepen our decades-long partnership with Emirates as we advance the future of flight together. Already the world’s largest customer for GE90 and GP7200 engines, this additional GE9X order reflects Emirates’ confidence in our technology and our team. We are ready to support Emirates in every way to leverage the efficiency and durability of our industry-leading solutions and services.”
