On Thursday (June 3, 2021) Emirates announced that in June they will introduce daily scheduled Airbus A380 service to Bahrain, marking the first time an airline has operated the super-jumbo aircraft to the Kingdom on a regular basis. The flights EK 839/840 were previously operated with a Boeing 777-300ER and will now be operated with one of Emirates’ flagship A380s, a customer favorite. Concurrent with the launch of A380 services to Bahrain, the carrier is offering special fares to popular destinations for Bahrainis including Dubai, Istanbul and the Maldives. Economy guests will enjoy fares to Dubai from BHD 108, Istanbul from BHD 226 and the Maldives from BHD 400. Business Class fares start from BHD 683 to Dubai, BHD 770 to Istanbul and BHS 1,063 to the Maldives. The offer is valid for bookings through June 30th for travel by December 31, 2021.

Emirates flight EK 837 departs Dubai at 15:30 and arrives in Bahrain at 15:50, while the return flight, EK 840 leaves Bahrain at 17:50, arriving Dubai at 20:00. The new daily A380 service will complement the existing morning flight on the route (EK 837/838), which is operated with a Boeing 777-300ER. The A380 serving the Dubai-Bahrain is configured with 507 seats in a three class configuration featuring 417 spacious Economy Class seats, 76 fully flat-bed Business Class seats and 15 First Class Private Suites. Emirates currently offers A380 service to New York-JFK, Paris, Jeddah, Amman, Cairo, Frankfurt, Bangkok, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Moscow. In July, the carrier will also deploy the popular double-decker aircraft to Los Angeles.

In a separate June 3, 2021 press release, Emirates announced the launch of four weekly flights between Dubai and Miami, Florida in the U.S. starting July 22, 2021. The new Miami route expands the carrier’s U.S. network to 12 gateways including Boston, Chicago, New York (JFK and EWR), Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington DC and Orlando.

In Thursday’s announcement, Emirates’ Chairman and Chief Executive, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, said,

“Launching a non-stop service to Miami at this time signals our confidence in travel recovery as countries progress on their vaccination programmes and implement protocols for the safe resumption of flight and travel activity, particularly in the US and the UAE. It also underscores our strong commitment to the US market which Emirates now serves with over 70 weekly flights across 12 gateways.

“There is a clear demand for this service from both leisure and business travellers and we anticipate that our new route will be warmly received across our global network, as well as by travellers in Southern Florida, South America and the Caribbean who can conveniently access Dubai and our wider network via Miami’s many air service connections. We look forward to facilitating even more tourism and commerce opportunities to and from Florida with this new route, and to providing our customers with the award-winning Emirates experience.”

Also commenting on the new route launch, Miami International Airport’s Director and CEO, Lester Sola, added,

“Emirates announcing first-ever Dubai service at MIA is clearly one of the proudest moments in our airport’s history. Adding Dubai to our growing list of top destinations around the world further solidifies MIA as a leading global gateway and Florida’s busiest airport for international passengers.”

The Dubai-Miami route will operate four times weekly with a three-class Boeing 777-300ER featuring eight private First Class suites, 42 lie-flat Business Class seats and 304 spacious Economy Class seats. Emirates flight EK 213 will depart Dubai at 03:10 and arrive in Miami at 11:00, while the return flight, EK 214, departs Miami at 21:10 and arrives in Dubai at 19:35 the following day.
