Emirates Expands Schedule to Three South African Gateways

Emirates is ramping up service to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban in South Africa. The carrier will offer daily service to Durban from December 1st, double daily flights to Cape Town from February 1st, and thrice daily service to Johannesburg from March 1st, 2023.

On Monday (September 26, 2022), Emirates announced an expansion of their schedule to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban in South Africa. From December 1st, 2022 the carrier will offer daily service to Durban. Flights to Cape Town will operate twice daily from February 1st, while service to Johannesburg will expand to three daily flights starting March 1st, 2022. Emirates’ flight EK 767 between Dubai and Johannesburg will be operated with a Boeing 777-300ER, complementing existing double daily Airbus A380 service. The flight will depart Dubai at 23:25, and arrive in Johannesburg at 05:35 the next morning. The return flight departs Johannesburg at 22:20 and arrives in Dubai at 08:20+1.


The carrier’s second daily flight to Cape Town will depart Dubai at 09:10 and will arrive in Cape Town at 16:45, while the return flight departs Cape Town at 13:25 and arrives in Dubai at 01:10+1. With the expanded flight schedule, Emirates will offer 42 weekly services to South Africa. Additionally, customers will enjoy seamless onward connections across Southern Africa via Emirates’ codeshare and interline partners South African Airways, Airlink, FlySafair and Cemair. In addition to expanded passenger capacity, Emirates’ South African expansion will provide more belly-hold cargo capacity, facilitating trade in vital exports such as seafood, produce, frozen meats, wine, pharmaceuticals and gold between South Africa, the UAE and beyond.
