Emirates announced on Tuesday the completion of their inaugural flight from Dubai to Mexico City, with an interim stop in Barcelona. The flight will be operated daily and serviced with a Boeing 777-200LR.

Yesterday afternoon at 4:15PM local time, Emirates flight EK255 touched down in Mexico City for the first time. The Boeing 777-200LR carried a group of VIP guests and media onboard and was greeted by a traditional water cannon salute. The flight from Dubai to Mexico City will operate daily with an interim stop in Barcelona. In Tuesday’s announcement, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations – Americas, Salem Obaidalla said,
“We are excited to start a new chapter in Emirates’ history, offering a seamless connection between Dubai, Barcelona and Mexico City. We expect this service to generate high demand and enhance business, culture and leisure connections as well as boost tourism between these markets. Emirates’ arrival in Mexico City yesterday is the culmination of a lot of planning and hard work. We would like to thank the authorities and our partners in both Spain and Mexico for their support of the new route and look forward to provide our unique product and award-winning service to travelers.”

Emirates has deployed a newly refurbished Boeing 777-200LR on the route configured with 38 Business Class and 264 Economy Class seats. The Business Class cabin is arranged in a comfortable 2-2-2 layout and the lie-flat seats are now two inches wider than previous models. The upgraded Boeing 777-200LR Business Class cabin also includes a unique social area with a mini-lounge featuring snacks, sandwiches, fruit and a self-service beverage selection.
Economy Class passengers will enjoy new ergonomically designed seats with leather headrests and adjustable side panels for optimum support – all refreshed to the latest color palette of soft greys and blues. All passengers can enjoy up to 4,500 on-demand channels on Emirates’ “ice” inflight entertainment system (IFE) which also includes over 600 movies, 200 hours of TV and thousands of music tracks monthly. Naturally, Wi-Fi and Live TV are also available across all cabins.
Mexico City is the most populous city in North America and is an important cultural and financial center. The Mexican capital is also famous for its historic city-center known as Zocalo, which has been designated as UNESCO world heritage site. Dubai is also becoming a popular destination for Mexican tourists who can enjoy world-class shopping and eclectic architecture including the world’s tallest building (The Burj Khalifa) and one of the largest malls in the world (The Dubai Mall). The city also offers year-round sunshine, magnificent beaches and fine dining - including Michelin-starred restaurants.
Nationals of Dubai, Spain and Mexico do not require visas to travel between the three countries, making the daily service seamless, hassle-free and comfortable. Emirates flight EK255 departs Dubai at 3:30AM local time and arrives in Barcelona at 8:00AM. The flight then departs Barcelona at 9:55AM, arriving Mexico City at 4:15PM the same day.
