On Wednesday (September 2, 2020), easyJet announced that they will increase flying from London-Gatwick to popular holiday destinations for summer 2020. The carrier will increase service to Lanzarote from 10 weekly flights to twice-daily and flights to Athens will be increased from 13 to 17 per week. easyJet will also add three weekly flights to Malta and expand their offer to Naples from 14 to 18 flights weekly with three-times daily service on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. easyJet is the largest airline operating from London-Gatwick, operating up to 406 flights daily with a fleet of 67 based aircraft. In 2019, the carrier served 21 million passengers to and from the airport on 121 routes. To celebrate the planned expansion at Gatwick, easyJet has also launched a sale today with flights to Lanzarote, Naples, Athens and Malta starting at £24.99 for travel between October 22nd and December 11, 2020. In Wednesday’s announcement, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, Ali Gayward said,

“We are delighted to be adding additional flights to customers thinking about a late summer holiday this year or looking ahead to next year. For sunseekers, Lanzarote in the Canaries is a firm favourite for guaranteed summer sun, whilst the historic sights of Malta in the heart of the Med or an ancient Greek experience in Athens offers a rich cultural holiday experience. Finally, Naples in southern Italy provides for those looking for the perfect combination of new and old traditions to explore. The additional flying from both Gatwick and Luton means we can offer more choice and great value fares for our customers.”

Recently, easyJet also announced a new route to the Greek island of Santorini from London-Luton this summer, with three-tomes weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. For summer 2021, the carrier will offer seven weekly flights from London-Luton to Rhodes, Heraklion, Thessaloniki, Tenerife, Krakow and Porto. easyJet will also increase service to Palma in Majorca by 30 percent, with 28 weekly flights from Luton. Additionally, easyJet will increase service to Milan from one to three-times daily flights.
