David L. Gitlin Joins Boeing’s Board of Directors

Boeing’s Board of Directors has elected David L. Gitlin as the company’s newest board member. Mr. Gitlin is currently Chairman and CEO of Carrier, and will join the Aerospace Safety Committee and the Finance Committee.

On Tuesday (June 21, 2022), Boeing announced that the company’s Board of Directors has elected David L. Gitlin (53) as its newest member. Mr. Gitlin will join the Aerospace Safety Committee and the Finance Committee. David Gitlin currently serves as Carrier’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and brings over 20 years of aerospace industry experience to the Board. Prior to joining Carrier, he served in a number of leadership roles at United Technologies Corporation, including Chief Operating Officer at Collins Aerospace Systems, President of UTC Aerospace Systems, and President of Aircraft Systems – UTC Aerospace Systems. Mr. Gitlin also held a number of leadership positions with Hamilton Sundstrand, including President of Aerospace Customers and Business Development, Vice President of Auxiliary Power, Engine & Control Systems, Vice President of and General Manager of Power Systems. He also served as Vice President of Pratt & Whitney Programs.


In Tuesday’s announcment, Boeing’s Chairman of the Board, Larry Kellner, said,


“Dave is a proven leader with deep aerospace, manufacturing and supply chain expertise. With his consistent focus on safety and track record of operational expertise, Dave will add critical experience and perspective to our Board.”


Also commenting on the new Board appointment, Boeing’s President and CEO, Dave Calhoun, said,


“Dave is an excellent addition to our Board as we continue to rebuild trust, strengthen safety and quality and drive stability throughout our operations. We will benefit greatly from Dave's significant experience leading complex enterprises focused on engineering, manufacturing, safety and quality.”


Since April 2019, seven independent directors have joined the Boeing Board, collectively bringing significant experience in aerospace, safety, engineering, manufacturing, cyber, software, risk oversight, audit, supply chain management and finance.


David Gitlin holds a Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, a Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law and an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
