China Airlines Finalizes Order for Eight Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners

China Airlines has today finalized an order for eight Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The firm order was previously posted on Boeing’s Orders and Deliveries website as unidentified, and follows the carrier’s first-ever order for 16 787-9s announced in 2022.

On Tuesday (June 20, 2023), from the Paris Air Show, Boeing announced that China Airlines has finalized an order for eight Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, previously listed on Boeing’s Orders and Deliveries website as unidentified. This follows the carrier’s first-ever order for 16 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners announced last year. China Airlines also becomes the newest 787-10 customer, as they have converted six 787-9s to the larger 787-10.

Including today’s order, China Airlines will introduce 24 super-efficient Boeing 787s to their fleet over the next few years, strengthening their existing global network. The 787 Dreamliner will enable China Airlines to reduce fuel use and emissions by 20 percent versus the aircraft they will replace, thereby helping to support the carrier’s sustainability goals. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner Family is currently selling at the highest rate in its history, having won over 250 orders and commitments in the past six months alone.
