On Saturday (August 16, 2025), Cathay Pacific announced the unveiling of their completely redesigned flagship lounge at Beijing Capital International Airport.  To reveal the new space, Cathay Pacific held a launch event yesterday (August 15, 2025), hosted by Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer Ronald Lam, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau, Director Chinese Mainland Arnold Cheng, Director Customer Travel Erica Peng and Director Service Delivery Mandy Ng, and attended by guest of honour Deputy General Manager of Beijing Capital International Airport Li Chun. The event was also attended by industry partners and other distinguished guests.

Speaking at Friday’s launch event, Cathay Group’s CEO, Ronald Lam, said,

“We are incredibly excited to reopen the doors of our latest flagship Beijing lounge today, which underscores our unique position of having deep roots in Hong Kong, being proudly part of China and connecting the world.  Having one of our best lounges located at the capital’s airport is especially important to us.  The redesigned lounge complements Cathay Pacific’s seven daily return flights between Hong Kong and Beijing this summer, as we strive to offer customers greater choice and convenience — both in the air and on the ground — when they travel with us.

“As a Group, we continue to expand our network in the Chinese Mainland, operating more than 300 return flights per week to 23 destinations during the summer peak. We remain committed to providing customers with a seamless and elevated travel experience through our Hong Kong hub.”

Also speaking at the event, Cathay Pacific’s Director – Customer Travel, Erica Peng, said,

“Our commitment to delivering comfort and human-centric design is thoughtfully woven into every element of our redesigned Beijing lounge.  From its layout and lighting to its furnishings and completely revamped dining offerings featuring a unique selection of special dishes inspired by local Beijing flavours, we seek to create the inviting ambience that mirrors the warmth and familiarity of our lounges in Hong Kong and around the world.  Our goal is to make our members and customers truly feel at home and well looked after from the very start of their journey with us.”

The refreshed Beijing lounge has been designed in harmony with its environment, using thoughtfully placed roofing and window orientations that enhance natural light, maximize views, and maintain a comfortable temperature year-round.  The use of high-quality materials, such as cherry wood finishes and limestone, contributes to the elevated residential feel of the space.  The reception experience also reflects Cathay Pacific’s shift from a traditional counter design to a podium format, originally introduced in The Bridge at Hong Kong International Airport earlier this year.  The Beijing lounge is also the first outside Hong Kong to introduce Cathay Pacific’s Lounge Ambassadors, offering guests attentive and personalized service.

The Main Lounge area features carefully selected designer furniture and lighting that are purposefully placed to deliver the ambiance and comfort of a refined home. More intimate spaces are embedded throughout the lounge to offer enhanced privacy to those who value discretion.  Additionally, three distinct dining propositions are available, each thoughtfully designed to add variety while complementing one another.

Cathay Pacific’s iconic Noodle Bar blends communal long tables with cozy banquette seating.  In addition to signature dishes, including freshly prepared wonton and dan dan noodles, the Noodle Bar serves regional Chinese specialties that honor the unique cultural heritage of the Chinese capital, such as rich and savory Beijing bean paste noodles.  A selection of Northern Chinese specialties is also available.

The Food Hall is a contemporary, open-ceiling space featuring an array of self-serve dining options that complement the Noodle Bar and Chinese culinary offerings. It provides a curated selection of comforting and familiar international options, from hearty hot dishes to wholesome salads to freshly baked goods.

Also, for the first time outside of Hong Kong, the Teahouse brings a curated experience to Beijing where guests can enjoy a selection of premium Chinese teas freshly brewed to order by Cathay Pacific’s tea specialists. The teas are specially sourced from regions across China for their unique origin and flavor profiles.

Guests can also enjoy ‘The Terrace’, which is a light-filled open-ceiling verandah, complementing the vibrant and relaxed atmosphere of the lounge, with a dedicated corner showcasing the carrier’s bespoke multi-functional Solo Chairs.  Additionally, visitors to the new flagship Beijing lounge can explore a thoughtfully selected artwork collection throughout the space, developed in collaboration with one of the curators behind the airline’s award-winning ‘Gallery in the Skies’ concept.  The artwork collection ranges from vibrant, contemporary calligraphy to whimsical drawings on boarding passes, all created by a diverse group of artists that reflect a rich tapestry of artistic expression.
