Cathay Pacific to Bolster Quarantine-Free Flights Between Hong Kong and Mainland China

Cathay Pacific will more than double the number of quarantine-free flights between Hong Kong and Mainland China from January 14, 2023, with 61 weekly return flights to/from 13 Mainland cities.

On Thursday (January 5, 2023), Cathay Pacific announced that they will more than double their number of quarantine-free flights between Hong Kong and Mainland China from January 14, 2023. With the expansion, the carrier will offer 61 weekly return flights to and from 13 Chinese Mainland cities. This compares to 27 weekly flights between Hong Kong and Mainland China and 50 weekly flights from Mainland China to Hong Kong currently on offer. Cathay Pacific plans on operating over 100 weekly return flights to the Mainland by the end of March 2023.


Starting January 8th, the carrier will increase frequencies to Beijing to 10 weekly returns and expand service between Hong Kong and Shanghai (Pudong) to 21 weekly return flights. Service to Guangzhou will also resume on the same date with five weekly returns. Starting January 14, 2023, Cathay Pacific will also increase frequencies to Xiamen and Chengdu, with four and six weekly return frequencies respectively. Currently, the airline offers service to nearly 60 destinations worldwide.

Cathay Pacific Group anticipates operating approximately 70 percent of their pre-pandemic passenger network by the end of 2023, and hopes to return to pre-pandemic levels by the end of 2024.
