Cathay Pacific Announces New Senior Leadership Appointments

Cathay Pacific has announced three new senior leadership appointments effective August 1st, 2021. Lavinia Lau will become Director of Customer Travel, Paul Smitton will assume the role of Director of Customer Lifestyle and Lawrence Fong will become Director Digital & IT.

On Wednesday (July 28, 2021), Cathay Pacific announced three new senior leadership appointments effective August 1st, 2021. Lavinia Lau will become the airline’s Director of Customer Travel, where she will be responsible for the customer travel experience design and passenger commercial functions. Ms. Lau has served as Cathay Pacific’s Director of Commercial for the last two years where she was responsible for revenue management, sales, distribution and planning for both passenger and freighter fleets. She joined the airline in 1999 and has since held various senior management positions within the commercial functions.


Paul Smitton will assume the position of Director of Customer Lifestyle, where he will lead the newly established Customer Lifestyle business line. Mr. Smitton will be responsible for helping Cathay become a premium lifestyle brand, including setting the strategic direction and executing the company’s travel lifestyle initiatives. He will also be responsible for achieving Cathay’s lifestyle-related financial ambitions and growing customer relationships. With over 20 years of experience in global loyalty, Paul joined the Cathay Pacific Group as Asia Miles CEO in 2018. He assumed the position of General Manager – Customer Relationship and Retail in 2020.


Finally, Lawrence Fong will continue to lead the company’s IT and digital functions as Director of Digital and IT. Mr. Fong will collaborate with all departments across the company to drive its digital leadership strategy with a focus on digital and IT transformation. Lawrence Fong currently serves as the Group’s General Manager – Digital & Information Technology, where he is responsible for the company’s digital transformation programs. He joined Cathay Pacific in 1990 and has since held a range of managerial positions in IT and e-Business across the Group.
