The agreement provides enhanced travel opportunities for customers from the Black Sea cities of Varna and Bourgas who can now book a single ticket with a stopover in Sofia and Doha for further travel throughout the world on Qatar Airways. Likewise, Qatar Airways’ guests will now enjoy seamless connections to Varna and Bourgas in Bulgaria. In Monday’s announcement, Qatar Airways Group’s Chief Executive Officer, His Excellency Mr. Akbar al Baker said,

“This agreement with Bulgaria Air follows other recent partnership announcements we have made with airlines across the world, demonstrating our commitment to working with our peers to provide the passengers with seamless connectivity and unrivaled service.”

Also commenting on the new codeshare partnership, Bulgaria Air’s CEO, Hristo Todorov added,

“It is a great pleasure for Bulgaria Air to add Qatar Airways to its partnership network, which is undoubtedly one of the most respected and prestigious airlines in the world. We are delighted that they have chosen us as a partner and in that way our passengers will be able to travel quickly and conveniently to all 170 destinations of the Qatar airline. This cooperation is only part of our long-term development strategy and we are happy to welcome the passengers of Qatar Airways onboard our aircraft.”

This year, Bulgaria Air has added two new direct flights to St. Petersburg (Russia) and Valencia (Spain). In 2019, the Bulgarian national carrier formed partnerships with Baltic Air and Condor which opened the Baltic region (Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn), as well as Punta Cana and Cancun (Mexico) to the carrier’s guests. Qatar Airways entered the Bulgarian market in 2011 with four-weekly flights to Sofia, which has now grown to 14 weekly flights.

Celebrated and award-winning Qatar Airways was named the ‘World’s Best Airline’ at the 2019 World Airline Awards managed by Skytrax. The carrier was also named ‘Best Airline in the Middle East,’ ‘World’s Best Business Class’ and awarded the title for ‘Best Business Class Seat.’ Qatar Airways is the only airline ever to have received the prestigious “Skytrax Airline of the Year” title five times. The airline is the national carrier of the State of Qatar and serves over 170 global destinations with a fleet of more than 250 modern aircraft.
