On Wednesday (June 15, 2022), British Airways announced that they have partnered with British brand Trunki to create an innovative limited-edition ride on suitcase for children ahead of the summer 2022 holiday season. The suitcase has been named ‘Amelia the Aeroplane’, inspired by pioneering aviator Amelia Earhart, the first female to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. The suitcase features a British Airways aircraft and the carrier’s mythical ‘Skyflyer’ characters, Peggy the Pegasus and Leon the Lion, who also appear on British Airways’ activity packs for children and at family check-in. The case is available for purchase for £45 by clicking here.

In Wednesday’s announcment, British Airways’ Head of Brand and Marketing, Hamish McVey, said,

“We love seeing children travelling around the airport on or with a Trunki, so we are really pleased to be partnering with them to create an aviation-inspired case. We can’t wait to see our smallest travellers take to the skies with their new luggage this summer.”

Also commenting on the brand collaboration, Trunki’s Creator and CEO, Rod Law, added,

“We were thrilled to be able to partner with British Airways and create a bespoke Trunki for young flyers and British Airways enthusiasts alike. Each case is manufactured at our UK factory in Plymouth, and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership. A positive return from the pandemic!”

The newly created British Airways Trunki suitcase has a comfy saddle and horn grips, and are spacious enough to carry all essential items to keep the youngest flyers occupied. The case has been sustainability produced in the UK through carbon-neutral manufacturing, and is packaged in fully-recyclable eco-friendly materials. British Airways is focused on family travel for the summer holiday season, and offers generous baggage allowances, as well as free seat selection at the time of booking for travelers with infants under the age of two. The carrier also offers a dedicated family check-in zone at London Heathrow Terminal 5, where colleagues are available to help.
