On Wednesday (July 21, 2021), British Airways announced the launch of a new interactive trip planning tool in partnership with the global tech company Sherpa. The map brings together the latest travel restrictions and entry requirements for over 100 countries, providing thousands of sources and using millions of data points to help take the stress out of trip planning. The tool allows customers to explore the globe to see what restrictions are in place before booking travel, with visual search by traffic light color or by typing in their destination. Additionally, the interactive map has a tab that allows customers to indicate whether they have been vaccinated, which will adjust the results.

In today’s announcement, British Airways’ Head of Digital, Jack Smith, said,

“We know that travel in this new Covid era can feel overwhelming for our customers, and our job is to make their lives as straightforward as possible. This new tool, which has been tried and is trusted by our joint business partner, American Airlines, will help people navigate the differing entry requirements, to allow for a smooth booking and travel experience.”

Also commenting on the new partnership, Sherpa’s CEO, Max Tremaine, added,

“Supporting the return to travel, we’re honoured to be working with the team at British Airways. Together, we are providing their customers with the information they need to make informed booking decisions and travel confidently again.”

Customers booking travel with British Airways can do so with confidence, thanks to the airline’s flexible booking policy, which allows travel dates to be changed without fees or tickets to be exchanged for a voucher. British Airways Holidays’ customers will also enjoy a range of additional flexible booking options as part of the company’s ‘Customer Promise,’ including the ability to secure a holiday with a deposit from only £60 per person.
