British Airways Launches Five New Short-Haul Routes From London Gatwick

BA Euroflyer, British Airways’ Gatwick-based subsidiary, will add service to five new short-haul destinations. The new routes include service to Montpellier, Corfu, Mykonos, Innsbruck and Salzburg.

On Wednesday (January 4, 2023), British Airways announced the launch of five new short-haul routes from London Gatwick (LGW), which will be operated by the carrier’s Gatwick-based subsidiary, BA Euroflyer. The new routes include Montpellier (France), Corfu, Mykonos (Greece), Innsbruck and Salzburg (Austria). Flights to Salzburg will operate three times weekly from March 28th, while service to Montpellier will operate three times weekly from May 27, 2023. Corfu flights will operate three times weekly from May 30th, complementing the existing flights from London Heathrow. Service between LGW and Mykonos will operate once weekly from June 10th, bolstering existing service from London Heathrow and London City. Starting December 8, 2023, BA Euroflyer will also launch eight weekly flights between Gatwick and Innsbruck, complementing the current six weekly flights from Heathrow.


In Wednesday’s announcement, BA Euroflyer’s Acting CEO, Tom Stoddart, said,


“It is exciting to see our short-haul schedule at Gatwick grow. These additional routes are to a broad range of destinations that will suit all manner of travellers from beach lovers and skiers to explorers and adventurers. We have something for everyone departing from London Gatwick.”


Additionally, BA Euroflyer’s winter schedule went on sale today with 21 winter holiday and city break destinations, including ski hotspots such as Geneva and Turin, as well as fun and sun destinations like Tenerife and Lanzarote.

With nearly 40 all-year destinations on offer from London Gatwick, British Airways is the only LGW-based carrier offering both Business and Economy class cabins on all short-haul flights. Guests also enjoy a generous baggage allowance, free water and snacks, and free seat selection (24 hours prior to departure), along with frequent flyer benefits such as lounge access. Additionally, guests traveling in Club Europe (Business), enjoy a premium check-in area, lounge access, and a complimentary gourmet meal and bar service onboard.
