Bonza is today marking their first anniversary of service, taking to the skies to democratize air travel across Australia. The carrier claims to have saved Aussie travelers over $125 million in their first year alone, a figure which is expected to double this year.
On Wednesday (January 31, 2024), BONZA announced the celebration of their first anniversary of service with festivities dubbed the ‘Bonzaversary.’ During their first year of service, the carrier claims to have saved Aussies over $125 million, as they aim to democratize air travel across Australia, especially for customers in regional Australia. In their first year of operations, Bonza has served more than 750,000 guests, providing service on 38 routes across 21 destinations, with 84 percent of routes not served by any other airline and 89 percent of routes not served by a low-cost carrier.
Celebrating their first anniversary, Bonza is offering over 200,000 seats across all routes with one-way fares from $49 per person. To qualify for the promotional fares, tickets must be booked by 23:59 AEST on February 5, 2024 for travel from February 1st, 2024 and October 26, 2024 (T&Cs apply).
In Wednesday’s announcement, Bonza’s CEO, Tim Jordan, said,
“It really is a Bonzaversary to remember, since our inaugural flight on 31 January 2023, Bonza has expanded to operate 38 routes to 21 destinations from three bases and, of these routes, 84% are unique to Bonza. Bonza is about making air travel affordable for the many and not just the few; and improving accessibility for all Australians, especially those in the regions. We’ve taken great steps towards delivering upon our mission with more than $125 million already saved by Aussie travellers.
“We’ve got big plans for 2024 and the Aussie public will benefit. We’re predicting we’ll save domestic travellers somewhere in the vicinity of an additional $250 million this coming year. Competition in Australian skies is a great thing for Aussie travellers and over 750,000 customers have already experienced the benefits of Bonza.
“Our fares start from $49 per person one way, which means more opportunities for everyday Aussies to discover parts of Australia they may never have visited before without it hurting their hip pocket. Since our introduction just a year ago we’ve delivered significant savings wherever we operate, demonstrating the positive impact Bonza is having on the Australian domestic aviation market.
“We have an amazing team of Bonza legends who have worked so hard to make Bonza what it is today. Our legends are incredibly proud to be growing an airline that has a mission to connect Australia and its underserved regional and leisure centres and we’re all excited for what’s to come in the year ahead. We’d also like to thank our customers who have supported us during this year of firsts. Like any new business we know that we don’t always get things right all of the time, but at Bonza we learn quickly and we will go again as our customers have shown us that there certainly is a Bonza sized opportunity in the Australian aviation market.
“Ditching the cabin trolley and having food and drinks served directly to your seat by our cabin crew legends with just a few thumb presses on the Fly Bonza app has been a game changer. For many of our menu partners, this is the first time their products have been onboard an airline and we’ve proudly watched their businesses grow as Bonza helps them reach new heights.”

For 2024, Bonza plans on expanding their fleet beyond the six aircraft currently serving 38 routes, will add more routes, and is also planning a fourth base. The carrier continues to grow their team and currently employs over 300 Bonza ‘legends’ across Australia.
Bonza is Australia’s new, and only independent low-cost carrier (LCC), enabling Australians to explore more of their own backyard at low prices. The airline currently operates a fleet of six brand new Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft, serving 38 routes across 21 destinations. Over 84 percent of Bonza’s routes are not served by any airline, and 89 percent are not served by a low-cost carrier. The lowest fares are now available for booking on the FlyBonza App.
