Austrian Airlines is launching three weekly flights between Vienna and Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine starting May 17, 2021. The new route complements the carrier’s summer service to Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa and will be served with an Embraer E195.
On Thursday (April 1, 2021), Austrian Airlines announced the launch of flights between Vienna and Zaporizhzhia, celebrating 30 years of service to Ukraine. The carrier will offer three weekly flights on the route from May 17, 2021, complementing their summer service to Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa. The route will be operated with an Embraer E195 and Austrian plans on increasing the frequency to daily service during the summer. Austrian Airlines first flew to Ukraine on April 1, 1991, with service to Kyiv.
In Thursday’s announcement, Austrian Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Michael Trestl, said,
“We are pleased to announce the launch of Zaporizhzhia on today's 30th anniversary of our Ukraine connections. It not only strengthens our Ukraine offering, but also our traditionally strong network to Eastern Europe.”
Tickets to Zaporizhzhia are now bookable. Due to Zaporizhzhia’s proximity to the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, only 85 kilometers apart, Austrian Airlines will no longer operate the Vienna-Dnipro route.
